Heartening news?

Burmese pythons have their own unique system for a good vigorous workout and it certainly does not involve jogging, swimming or biking. Nature has some unique provisions for these pythons. To strengthen their hearts all they have to do is to eat. Talk about being lucky. Couch potatoes they may be but they aren't of the snacking type. They eat enough to last in their tummies for a week. Often they eat creatures the same size as they and their metabolism shoots up the more they stuff their face. Stephen Secor of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa says, ""It's like running a marathon but doing it for 2 weeks."

Humans aren't so blessed. Our regularised eating habits and lifestyles have deprived us of this gift. Studying these pythons might reveal more effective ways to train athletes.
