Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala

The Clean-Kochi programme, launched on July 25, had its first session in Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala. The programme is being held by Environmental Action Network, as part of its objective to create awareness among children on environmental issues and hazards that exist around us. Students are also exhorted to try out novel ways of dealing with threats to the ecology. The programme targets students of Std. VIII and IX and encourages them to follow the four A's — assessment, awareness, action and advertisement. Lakshmi Narayanan and Mallika Damodaran, programme coordinators, carried out a few tests to check the purity of water samples. They exhorted students to take interest in bird watching, tree planting, water testing, solid-waste management and testing air quality.
