Bowling maidens

If you want to bowl maidens consistently Ashish Nehra has advice for you — start early. "Kids who aspire to become fast bowlers should start intensive training when they are 12 or 13. I mean fitness training as well," says the ace seamer of the Indian attack. " I started at the age of 16 and my professional physical training at the age of 20. ," affirms this product of Air Force School, New Delhi. Ashish has now fully recovered from another fitness break down and is raring to take on the Kiwis next month. "My physical fitness has improved mainly because of the foreign physical trainer. I wish such trainers were there with all the major Ranji teams." "Studies were never there in my scheme of things. Once I started training under Tarak Sinha and playing for Sonnet I never bothered to continue my education beyond senior secondary." Ashish feels that India is not lacking in talent, it is just that our society has yet to accept sports as a profession for their children from their childhood.
