Prajna showcased skills that included style, diction and confidence which helped her win the State- level competition.

English language has flourished in Kodagu district for long as in most places all over the the country.

Chemira Prajna Poonacha, Std X, St. Annes High School in Virajpet did the district proud by winning the first prize in the State level English speaking competition organised recently as a part of the ‘Pratibha Karanji' event.

Topic for the day

‘Education is my right' was the topic on which she spoke, beating 33 other competitors in the field who had come from all over the State.

“Prajna impressed the judges displaying confidence, style and enunciation while speaking,” her father Chemira C. Nanjappa, said. The competitions were held at Sirsi in Uttara Kannda district.

Pratibha Karanji is a Government sponsored cultural and educational programme aimed at tapping the latent talent among students and encouraging them.

Winner all the way

Prajna had earlier cleared the various levels of the Pratibha Karanji at the cluster, taluk and the district to qualify for the State level and win accolades.
