Twentyfive avatars

What is it about Lord Krishna that enamours most? It is an answer that artist Elizabeth Lily Raina, cannot give immediately. But her recent exhibition held in the capital concentrated on 25 works of art depicting the various stages of Krishna's life. "It starts from his playful childhood and goes on to his adolescence spent with `gopis'. Finally it goes onto his various avatars," says Raina whose work as an artist has been influenced by the charity homes and ashrams at Vrindavan. Using an interesting but somewhat lost technique of metal point on paper, Raina says the process was quite laborious and it took her upto ten days or more to finish one piece. "I picked up this technique while studying in Holland", she says "Vrindavan is a spiritual journey for me," says the artist "and this finds expression in my work".
