Objective assessment

Suresh Kohli's tribute to Amrita Pritam, "Juggling Two Lives" (Magazine, November 13) is a sympathetic yet objective assessment of the literary contribution of one of the most well known women writers of contemporary India. Kushwant Singh had once told Amrita Pritam that her life story was simple enough to be written on the back of a revenue stamp. Hence she chose the title Rasidi Ticket for her autobiography. No doubt, the simplicity of her themes, style and narration touched her readers' hearts. She was at her emotive best in her prose as well as poetry.
