VENUS and Saturn turn retrograde as Mercury and Neptune turn direct during the month of October, making this a month for resolving past relationships and implementing your creative ideas and plans. Mercury turns direct in Virgo on October 6, at 19:20 GMT and enters Libra on October 11, at 5:57 GMT. Mercury has been retrograde in Libra and Virgo since September 14. Mercury was last retrograde from May 15 to June 8, 2002.Neptune then turns direct in Aquarius on October 20 at 9:58 GMT.

Neptune has been retrograde since Monday, May 13, 2002.

Meanwhile, Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio on October 10, at 18:31 GMT. Venus was last retrograde in Aries from March 9 to April 20, 2001. Saturn also turns retrograde in Gemini on October 11, at 11:00 GMT. Saturn most recently was retrograde from September 26, 2001 to February 8,2002.

To add to the celestial mix, Mars enters Libra on October 15 at 17:39 GMT, the Sun enters Scorpio on October 23, at 14:19 GMT, and Mercury enters Scorpio on October 31, at 22:44 GMT.

Thus, you will experience a month with many possibilities with no clear, obvious directions. It is important to refer back to the dates listed above for previous similar transits to create a greater context for the experiences you are having and to formulate a larger strategy so you may use your experiences for your highest good.

When events happen without a point of reference, it is easy to call these events random or irrelevant. However, if you study the aforementioned dates, you will see there actually is a larger pattern at work. Events and issues from earlier periods in your life are now repeating on a higher level. You have a chance to learn more from each lesson if you compare your current reactions and plan to resolve past issues from a more evolved perspective.

Take Mercury retrograde, for example. It will be retrograde until October 6, and was last retrograde in late May and June. Look back to late May and June for information about the issues you will have the opportunity to resolve again at this Mercury retrograde. Or, look at the movement of Saturn, which turns retrograde on October 11. Saturn was last retrograde from September 2001 to February 2002. Think about what you were trying to resolve during this last retrograde period and compare it to the progress you have made since that time on the issues in question. Also, look at the lessons you were trying to master during the previous retrograde period, and note how you may perfect these lessons with the next retrograde.

Imagine your life as a series of cycles. You do the best you can as each cycle passes. Then the cycle finishes, and a new series of lessons presents itself. But eventually, threads always return from the past.

When these old threads resurface, you have a renewed opportunity to build firmer foundations where you have not built solidly enough in the past. Or you have the chance to grow further from the firm foundations you have set for yourself in the past. Like the wheel of karma that cycles through every life, the roots of present events can be traced back to earlier events in this or previous lives.

October is one such month when many karmic cycles and patterns will surface and become obvious if you choose to look closely at events that may otherwise appear random. Given that October is a month of many transitions, try to view each and every experience as part of the larger picture of your life. When you see the larger pattern, you will derive more meaning from seemingly senseless events. And you will have a much clearer idea of how to respond in the present moment. Focus most attentively on relationships and the true expression of the unique nature of your soul.
