HUMAN life is full of actions and reactions from birth to death. Every single action comprises three factors: Action = Person (Active & Passive) + Space (Place & Orientation) + Time (Timing & Duration)

When all the three are correlated with relevance to each other, the outcome of the action becomes acceptable.

Academically, we must isolate each of these factors in order to achieve an indepth understanding so that we are in control with every situation in life.

The first to be identified in this exercise is the `Person,' that is, none other than `You.'

In Nine Star Qi terms, each one of us has a set of universal codes for specific applications. For geomantic purposes, we need to know what is our individual code, called `Kua Numbers,' that is derived out of your Chinese lunar date of birth.

The Chinese Lunar New year starts either late January or early February. For example, in 1972, it was on February 15, in 1974 on January 23, and in 1986 on February 9.

If your birth date falls around these dates, it is better to consult your geomancers for the right Chinese Lunar Year for further calculations.

How to identify your Kua Number

If you are a male born between 1901 and 1999, add last two digits of the year and reduce it to a single digit. Now deduct the same from 10. What you get is your Kua Number.

Example: If the Chinese lunar year of birth is 1964, add the last two digits, that is, 6 + 4 = 10.

Reduce this to a single digit (1 + 0 = 1), deduct this from 10 (10 - 1 = 9). Your Kua Number is 9.

If the birth date falls after 1999, you have to deduct the derivative from 9, instead of 10.

If you are a female, add the last two digits of the Chinese lunar year, reduce that to a single digit. Add 5 to the derivative, the resultant is your `Kua Number.'

Example: If the Chinese lunar year of birth is 1957, add the last two digits (5 + 7 = 12), reduce it to a single digit (1 + 2 = 3). Add 5 to the same (3 + 5 = 8). Your Kua Number is 8.

Assuming the resultant number happens to be 5 in both the categories, then the same changes as follows: For males, it is 2. For females, it is 8.

The Kua Numbers can be listed as follows: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

In Feng Shui and Nine Star Qi, the number 5 does not carry any numerical value. We will discuss this aspect later.

Once your Kua Number is ascertained, you will be in a position to align yourself to specific orientations within a premises (like Sit or Face) for specific purposes in order to derive desired results.

The portents that cover Kua Numbers and Orientations in general are as follows:

Positive portents

Success: This portent has in store for you timely favourable outcomes of chosen endeavours, career progress, income enhancements and so on.

Health: This portent appoints your personal celestial doctor and the pharmacist to take care of your health and wellbeing.

Relationships: Your marriage, love life, family and partnerships, communications and media are the concerns governed by this portent.

Personal Development: Physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual developments are the forte of this portent.

Spirituality: Wherever the altar (pooja) of the house is at home, this portent has a special place and orientation to answer your prayers. Also for your forefathers.

Negative portents

Annoyance: This portent wows to irritate you, makes you repeat works, provoke and so on.

Termination: This brings an abrupt end to things like relationships, negotiations, undertakings and so on.

Accidents: Upsets, unexpected turn of events; physical accidents are the schemes of this sinister portent.

You are enveloped by these portents, each referring to a specific orientation around you, and like you, your property also has these portents wrapped around it.

Now the job is to identify the orientation of a specific positive portent and position yourself facing the suitable orientation for the specific action.

Example: If the portent of health of the house lies in Northwest of your house and your health portent is in East then, position yourself in Northwest of your house and face East while taking your pills. Store your medicines wherever the health portent of the house lies.

Now, help yourself by identifying your positive and negative orientations while executing different actions following the table.

Before experimenting these suggestions, try recollecting your personal experiences from these orientations with respect to specific activities and confirm your faith and proceed.

Best wishes!
