Your path to success

THERE IS no short road to success. As Michelangelo said: `If people knew how hard I work to get my mastery, it wouldn't seem too wonderful after all.'

Wishing and hoping will not take you down your path to success, nor can you coast effortlessly down it.

The truth is, success is a long and often bumpy journey. Here are some tips that will make your travels easier.

Have clear and realistic goals. If they are big, divide them into smaller goals to act as stepping-stones.

Keep them, not your problems, constantly in the back of your mind.

Be willing to invest the energy and effort that success will undoubtedly demand. Say `No' to the many alluring and easier activities that will tempt you away from the hard work success requires. Notice and use the opportunities that will come onto your path. They won't arrive in a tidy bundle; in fact, they'll often arrive disguised as problems and stumbling blocks.

Keep moving. Persistence is the blood brother of success. What steps will you take, everyday, to move closer to your goals?

What's on your path to success? Remember the saying: If it's to be, it's up to me.
