Variety blouses

MANDIRA BEDI shocked most drawing room audiences when she sported noodle strap blouses during the World Cup Cricket telecasts this year.

Mandira, who had an important role as the other woman in "Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", was surprised that people had accepted her style of dressing. In the scores of saas-bahu serials telecast on satellite channels, we find a certain dress code being followed.

Like, the daughter of the house or the `sati savitri' bahu are traditionally clad — blouses with U-shaped necklines and sleeves running up to the elbow, like Smrithi Arora's in "Kyon Ki... .".While the other woman or the vamp or a "bad" daughter-in-law is seen wearing blouses with straps or off-shoulder, with loud and exaggerated make-up, like Sudha Chandran in "Kahin Kissi Roz" or Kamalika in "Kasauti Zindagi Ki."
