Tie of kinship

IT'S TIME to renew those bonds of kinship between siblings. It is Rakshabandhan on August 12. So, why not send your brother a rakhi - even if he lives halfway across the globe? Let distance not deter you from celebrating Rakshabandhan this year! That's what TNT India Pvt. Ltd. is trying to do. It has started a "Rakhee Bandhan Service" - an international express service — for sisters to send their Rakhee wishes to brothers residing abroad.

The personalised service is designed keeping Indian traditions in mind. It includes a beautifully-designed gift box that contains a rakhee, a `tika', rice and a small decorated scroll on which a personal message can be written. The gift boxes come in vibrant shades of orange and reflect the mood of the festival.

Besides the usual boxes made by TNT, you can also choose from a range of gift boxes made by the children of the Spastic Society. You can even send your own rakhi in a gift box. The gift boxes are sourced from the Creative Art unit at the Spastics Society of Karnataka and choosing a box will bring a little joy into the lives of the children.

The service is affordably priced as a 50 per cent discount is being offered. It makes it convenient for you to pick up rakhis at your doorstep. You can follow-up on how the rakhis you have sent are being reached to their destination via e-mail, SMS and Internet. To avail yourself of the service all you have to do is call 24315100-15 and a TNT representative will visit you with a pack.

Apart from TNT, lifestyle stores in Chennai are all set to celebrate "Rakshabandhan". Odyssey (ph: 24402264/65) has tied up this season with the XPS cargo services, and has specially created a rakhi gift package, called `Anmol Rakhi' containing a rakhi, a kumkum box and rice. The package comes in a wooden box wrapped in velvet. It will be delivered to your brother anywhere in the country at a nominal fee of Rs. 99. An added attraction is the offer of free delivery of ITC Expression Cards to all parts of the country. A spot contest has been on during the festival period. On purchase of rakhis worth Rs. 50, one can enter the contest. The winner's brother will get a gift and a box of sweets worth Rs. 1001, while the winner will get a gift voucher of Rs. 251. The contest closes on August 12.

"To Brother with Love". That's how the lifestyle store Evoluzione is inviting doting sisters to celebrate Rakhshabandhan. Along with a `rakhi', gift your brother a trendy shirt from the fabulous new range from Cue and H2O at Evoluzione and get a surprise gift for yourself. The offer is on today and tomorrow (August 12), at Evoluzione, No. 3 , Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam. The store is open from 10.30 a.m. to 7 p.m., ph: 28333627.
