Sincere presentation

T hootukudi, Pudupettai, Naalai, Thalainagaram, Arindhum Ariyamalum… the list of films based on violence is endless.

Lack of ideas?

Is it shortage of story ideas or lack of creativity that drives filmmakers to bank on violence-based themes? asked CCC’s short-film Kathiyinri Rathaminri Oru Thriai Kalam screened at the gathering. Chennai students voiced their opinion that so long as the creator is sincere in his presentation, it is acceptable.

Realism in any form is acceptable as in the Kamal’s starrer Satya, they added.

The directors of these films justified that they only offer what the audience wants, and also drive home the message that rowdyism costs their life.

Goodbye violence

As Mysskin, the director of Chitiram Pesuthadi puts it: “It is a give-and-take situation. I refrained from showing blood in my film. I projected ‘vanmurai’ as ‘menmurai’.”
