Everything seems unpredictable these days. Big films with superstars flop and low-budget flicks with average stars or debutantes shine through. Naturally, this trend is causing a lot of concern especially to the two big Malayalam superstars.

Mohanlal, who has been going through a rough patch, was planning to shoot his `make-or-break' film `Thandavam' in Tenkasi. But his astrologer and friends are supposed to have told Mohanlal that it is would prove `unlucky' for him. He then shifted the shooting locale to Pollachi, but the film bombed.

Now, for his next `do-or-die' film `Mr. Brahmachari', the superstar is believed to have set his eyes on Tenkasi again, hoping his luck may change.

The actor is also said to be desperately trying to change his `action image', which has become a drag.

He is starring in a Priyadarshan film with young heroine Richa Pallod titled `Kilichundan Mambazham', which may do the trick.

The other superstar, Mammootty, is teaming up with old friends for a hit. He's doing a film with Lal Jose (who made the Dilip-starrer `Meesa Madhavan'), who had earlier directed him in `Maravathoor Kanavu', which was a money-spinner. With newcomers warming every heart, maybe the superstars are getting cold feet.
