Playing host

TRUE TO its name, The Host (Ph: 27841877/88) is an ideal destination to unwind in style and take pleasure in a reassuring gastronomic experience.

Recently opened at Amar Food's Plaza in Sikh Village (near Diamond Point), the air of formality around the restaurant immediately summons up a fine dining situation. Characterised by woody interiors, minimalist dcor, an affecting ambience and wafting instrumentals, the food court plays the perfect host.

The company of friendly waiters and the regulated yellow lighting aptly harmonise in the warm ambience to extend hospitality.

The Host has two sections - a vegetarian coffee shop Nice Spice, and a private banquet terrace - Roof Garden (that can accommodate 150 people) for those who require exclusivity in arrangements. "We have separate kitchens for the vegetarian and non-vegetarian section," emphasises the owner, Amar Reddy. "The Host can comfortably seat more than a hundred people," he says adding, "Dependably quick service with a personal touch is ensured by our trained staff."

Although the menu springs no special surprise other than its size, the taste is a lingering affair that ensures one keeps coming back for more. Actually the almighty food-outpost has little of everything - from Cantonese to continental, Tandoor, South Indian, Afghani and Italian. And although items on the menu are too numerous to mention, the non-veg tandoori platter, Natukodi pulusu and Dingiri dolma are strongly recommended for their distinct aroma and flavour.

One also needs to check out the non-vegetarian buffet that is available only for lunch. At Rs. 125, there is a mind-blowing range of food.

"We have home delivery service that serves piping hot food in 30-minutes within a radius of three kilometres. Outdoor catering orders are also undertaken," says restaurant manager, K. Balram.

A special mention needs to be made of the prices that are kept unbelievably low. After all, moneymaking is just a by-product, customer's satisfaction remains paramount in The Host, a name that has good reasons behind.
