One more Munnabhai!

SANJAY DUTT'S "Munnabhai MBBS" has become a sort of cult classic in India and abroad. Even the British Medical Journal has carried a decent review of the film. And it is for the first time that the same film is being remade in Tamil with Kamal Hassan in "Vasoolraja MBBS", Telugu with Chiranjeevi in "Shankardada MBBS", and in Kannada with Upendra in "Uppidada MBBS". These films are being made simultaneously by Gemini Film Circuit, and shooting for the Kannada version commenced last week in Bangalore. Top director D. Rajendra Babu is directing the film with Uma Shankari as the heroine. A Malayalam version with Mohanlal in the lead is in the pipeline, and now it remains to be seen if all these superstar `doctors' can better the original?
