On a different note

ONE SINGER who has always tried to stay away from stereotyped tunes is Sonu Nigam, and his homage to the legendary Mohammad Rafi proves this. His voice lends itself smoothly to both soft melodies and peppy numbers. Following `TVS Sa Re Ga Ma' for Zee TV, he has become a household name, what with senior judges (read musicians) in the show vouching for his talent and bright future in the industry.

After a couple of albums, TV shows and hit film songs, Sonu decided to don the grease paint with "Kash Aap Hamaare Hote" opposite Juhi Babbar. The enterprising singer has a handful of films on hand right now. Wishing away good offers may be difficult for Sonu, but isn't it wise for him to take advantage of his vocal chords, rather than get caught up in tiring shooting schedules? Will the music world miss the voice, or has the celluloid world gained a star? Time will tell!
