No oil

A cookbook "Food for Reversing Heart Disease" penned by renowned cardiologist Dr. Bimal Chhajer, was launched at the India Habitat Centre's Gulmohar Hall the other day.Says Chhajer about the book, . "Almost all households use oil to prepare, cook and season spices when they prepare food. The cooking methods described in this book do not use many kinds of oil. The food will help not only in preventing further deposits of cholesterol and fat inside the arteries, but also in removal or reversal of the deposits."The fat (in the form of cholesterol and triglycerides) deposited inside the coronary arteries causes coronary heart disease, which manifests itself as angina, ischaemia, heart attack, coronary thrombosis or heart stroke. "One must remember that use of any oil or ghee can be detrimental to our health, as in the modern era we do not perform physical activities required to use up these high-calorie fatty items. Some fat is necessary for our body, but that can be obtained from the invisible or hidden fat inside all natural and so-called non-fatty items. We also do not recommend any milk products or extracts like cheese, butter, cream or margarine, as they also contain very high amounts of fat," adds Chhajer.An Assistant Professor at the All India Institute of Medcial Sciences, he is recognised as a pioneering cardiologist, who developed the Saaol Heart Program, a non-invasive heart care programme. As the claim goes, this has helped over 8000 patients cure themselves without going for bypass surgery or angioplasty. Chhajer has written three other books, "Reversing Heart Disease in Five Steps", "Two Hundred and one Diets for the Heart Patient" and "Zero Oil Cook Book".
