The Italian bull is all set to charge into the Indian market. Flooded with queries from the ever-growing number of rich Indians, Lamborghini is keeping a keen eye on the market situation in India and is aware of the way we Indians are shaping up to the marque. Making an official announcement at the Dubai Motor Show, Rocco Basta, regional manager of Lamborghini for Asia said: "We believe this is the right time for Lamborghini to enter India. The VW-owned, Audi-managed company has signed on Delhi-based Exclusive Motors to be its Indian dealer. Exclusive is also the official dealer of Bentley in India. With a conservative estimate of selling ten cars in a year, the dealership will bring in the the `baby Lambo' - the highly capable Gallardo. This stunning two-seater, aluminium space-frame supercar comes with a 5-litre V10 producing 512 bhp. Power is transmitted to the four-wheel drive system via a 6-speed gearbox option of a traditional gearshift lever or shift paddles on the steering wheel. Orders for the cars have already started and deliveries will start this month. The first two Gallardos for India will be special edition versions (out of only 250), distinguished by two-tone paint, tinted lamps and exclusive interior appointments. The Gallardo SE (special edition) will benefit from a shorter gear ratio and a unique `thrust mode' for faster acceleration. Beefed-up suspension and Pirelli Zero Corsa tyres will take care of `ambitious' driving. Meanwhile, the next generation Murcielago will come by the end of 2006. More of a traditional Lamborghini, it's a full-sized supercar featuring scissor doors and styling elements from its predecessors - Diablo and Countach. The current Murcielago is powered by a massive 6.2-litre V12 . Its 0-100 kph time of 3.3s will make it India's quickest car. The cars will be completely built-up units (CBU) but exempt from homologation since they cost over US $ 40,000. They will, however, attract the high 104 per cent duty. Based on UK right-hand-drive prices, the Gallardo should start at Rs 1.5 crore and the Murcielago Rs 2.25-2.50 crore. Exclusive Motors is investing in the diagnostic equipment and specialised tools to service Lambos in India. "We will spend a lot of time training the dealerships personnel to ensure that Indian customers get the best of service standards," said Basta.
