My kind of place

MATHERANPages from the diaryI leaf through my diary whenever I want to refresh my memory of Matheran that has remained my kind of place for the past 30 years. Since 1961, I have been keeping a diary. There are detailed sketches too of the places I visited. Time of my lifeYear: 1976. Month: April. Place: Matheran. Time: from six in the morning to three in the afternoon. Purpose: To shoot the song "Oru chinna paravai..." from the film "Madanamaligai." Experience: Memorable.Delightful journeyA tiny hill station, Matheran is situated around 3,000 feet above sea level. A mini train takes you to the hill. The train moves so slowly that you could get down and walk along it! Once there, you can move around on ponies or in rickshaws. It has an octopus-shaped topography. At the end of the five tentacles are breathtaking viewpoints. All work and no holidayI never got an opportunity to revisit this gorgeous place. My schedule hardly gave me the time. But, now may be I could be humming "Oru chinna paravai... " to myself in Matheran.ACTOR SIVAKUMAR SPOKE TO CHITRA SWAMINATHAN
