Milestone for Montfortians

THIS YEAR is a milestone for the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel for, it marks a centenary of committed service to the cause of education in the country. To commemorate the historic event, the missionary order has organised national level celebrations, which will be held on December 30 at 5 p.m. at the Santhome Higher Secondary School grounds. The Superior General of the Order, Rev. Bro. Rene Delorme, will preside over the function. Su. Thirunavukkarasar, Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology will be the Chief Guest, while Sanjay Paswan, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development will be the guest of honour. The occasion will also see the participation of several special guests and prominent Montfortians.

The programme begins with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration at 10 a.m., followed by felicitations and lunch.

The Society of Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel was founded in France in 1705. Since then it has spread to 30 countries, its mission being providing education - be it through schools, technical education or special education for the hearing and speech impaired and through its outreach work for the underprivileged in rural areas.
