Meet on e-waste kicks off today

A THREE day e-waste seminar kicks off today at the Max Mueller Bhavan. The seminar, which will continue tomorrow and day after (August 17 and 18) will discuss ways in which waste from electronic and electrical equipment can be used/disposed or recycled. The keynote address will be delivered by K. Dinesh, Director, Infosys.

Experts from India and other countries will make presentations and interact with organisations in Bangalore who have initiated a movement towards successful management of e-waste. There will be discussion with generators of e-waste as well as recycling institutions and stakeholders over the three days.

An exhibition has been organised on issues relating to e-waste to create awareness among the general public. The exhibition will feature video films, posters,and graphic displays and industry stalls. A street play, with the issue as its theme, will be performed at different public spaces. The play will be backed by a poster/sticker campaign. The exhibition will be on till September 4.
