Jazz concerts

The Wolfgang Haffner Group is performing a jazz-rock concert on December 8, 2006 at the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall as the sole international event at the Bengalooru Habba. The band features Wolfgang Haffner on drums, Sebastian Studnitzky on trumpet and piano, Christian Diener on e-bass and Frank Kuruc on guitar. The performance kicks off at 7.30 p.m. on December 8, and free passes are available at Bengalooru Habba venues and the Max Mueller Bhavan. Meanwhile today at 9 p.m. at The Opus, The Wolfgang Haffner Quartet jams with a Carnatic ensemble comprising Suma Sudhindra on the veena, B.C. Manjunath on percussion, M.A. Krishnamurthy on the tabla and the ghatam, B.K. Chandramouli on the kanjira and mridanga and S.N. Narayanamurthy on the ghatam. On December 8, the Ministry of Blues with Deepak Keshavan on drums, Philipe Haydon on lead guitar and vocals, Sarat on bass, Rauf on keyboards and vocals and Vinoo Mathew on guitar take the stage. On Sunday, Sharik Haasan and Nate Linkon perform a piano and sax duet jam from 2 p.m. onwards. Contact Opus on 23442580.
