Rajshri Media releases its movies online and in the theatre simultaneously

One of India's oldest and largest entertainment house Rajshri Group, under its digital and entertainment arm Rajshri Media (P) Limited, recently launched, a broadband entertainment portal for Indian entertainment content. Consumers can now stream and download hundreds of full-length new and classic feature films in multiple Indian languages. The portal also features licensed film and non-film music videos, concerts, humour clips, short films and documentaries and top TV shows . The screening of movies is absolutely free. However, the downloading for a limited period of 72 hours costs USD 9.9. Consumers can further stream either high or low bandwidth versions of the movies depending on the speed of their broadband connectivity.With the launch of "Vivah"becomes the first movie of Indian cinema to premiere on the Internet, on the same day and date as its worldwide release in theatres. Three versions of `Vivah' are being released on the Internet, a Hindi version, Hindi with English subtitles and a Telugu version, "Parinayam" . The online release of the movie is predominantly aimed at the growing number of international consumers of Bollywood entertainment, who are broadband enabled and technology savvy.Rajat Barjatiya, Managing Director, Rajshri Media does not feel that the online release of "Vivah" will have any negative effect on the box-office collection says, "With the online premiere of "Vivah", marks a new era in the distribution and modernisation of Indian entertainment content and I am confident that this experiment will soon become a norm."Looking ahead, Rajshri media plans to add exciting new features to the site on a regular basis, such as sections on astrology, numerology, Indian food and spirituality. Besides this, it also plans to add regional language content across multiple categories and integrate rich content repurposed for mobile phones, iPods and other digital devices.
