Frazer and how!

INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER tags are hardly a dream afar, and here is another proof. Opening shopping avenues for Delhiites, well-known accessory brand Frazer and Haws has just lifted curtains on a new showroom at New Delhi's Green Park with two designer products - Scarpia - a range of sterling silver jewellery - and Homer's Italian leather bags.

With this, Frazer and Haws - opened by John Frazer and Edward Haws in 1869 - has four showrooms across the country. Designing exquisite silver collectibles for over two hundred years, its Indian subsidiary has an arduous task of living up to the task. The lady behind Scarpia, Nupur Jain, assures that it by no means junk silver.

"Lots of research work goes before we churn out silver objects. I draw on the paper and then it is replicated in silver," she says.

Frazer and how!

Scarpia, she says, is for those who are full of joie de vivre and seek inspiration from trendy objects. Extra care has been taken to insure that Scarpia doesn't become gaudy or too ostentatious. Pendants and necklaces start from the range of Rs. 500. A sleek walking stick, which can only be used as a souvenir, costs a whopping Rs. 10, 000. A silver pen - which can be gifted as a present - cost Rs. 950. A gigantic candelabrum, which can enhance beauty of any drawing room, looks mesmerising. An unusually big jug is available for Rs. 36, 000 while a wine cooler is on sale for an exorbitant Rs. 98, 000. To enliven a party one needs not only champagne but also a bucket, which jells with the beverage. The champagne bucket can be yours for Rs. 75, 000.

Homer's leather bags, in two distinct styles, have been introduced on not such a large scale as Scarpia but the bags have elegance and classiness in their looks. One is brown textured leather in classical interpretation and the other is in black leather. There is toughness about Homer's lines and the best quality leather is used. The price starts off from Rs. 800 onwards.

"Our unique selling point is that our style is individualistic," says Chanda Narang, CEO, Frazer and Haws.
