Films on football

THE BRITISH Council and Sathyam Cinemas present "Moving The Goalposts", a collection of short films on football and its emotive pull, on December 11 and 12 at 10.30 a.m. at Santham, Sathyam Cinemas, Royapettah.

The collection concentrates largely on fans and their loyalties and rivalries and the darker side represented by football hooliganism. Many of the films highlight the influence the game has on younger fans who dream of Cup Final glories or of meeting their idol in person.

Two films, "See You At Wembley, Frankie Walsh" and "This Boy's Story", made by graduate students from the National Film and Television Institute, U.K., have received the Oscar for Best Student Film. The other films include "The Sunny Side Of The Street", "When The Reds Come Marching In", "Eight", "The Heart Of Football" and "The Do-It-Yourself Football Club Kit".
