Belgian Shepherd Idoh faced mediapersons at a meet held in connection with Sibiraj’s upcoming Tamil film

Idoh is the latest Kollywood star on the block. And, he doesn’t throw any of those starry tantrums.

He’s the Belgian Shepherd who, apart from spending a lot of time on the sets of Naaigal Jaakirathai , also cosily sat on a chair facing mediapersons on Tuesday, along with co-star Sibiraj, who seems to share a terrific ‘chemistry’ with him.

Ask the actor what prompted him to take on such a film and he says, “Tamil cinema has long showcased films where animals play important roles; we have all watched and loved director Rama Narayanan sir’s movies. But this is perhaps the first time we have a complete action-packed family entertainer in Kollywood in which a dog enjoys equal importance as the hero.”

The fact that he is a dog lover and a regular at dog shows helped him. “I thought it would be very easy to find a canine at these events but nothing worked out. In fact, we even tried roping in the dog that played an important role in Akshay Kumar’s Entertainment but that too didn’t work out. The search ended once we spread the word on the Internet and we found Idoh in Bangalore,” he recalled.

After spending a couple of weeks with the dog, Sibiraj felt confident about the shoot. “It was quite easy, but things got a little difficult closer to the climax,” he said, “I’ve been bitten at least a dozen times. I have a love-hate relationship with Idoh, I think.” Naaigal Jaakirathai has been directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan.
