Before and after...

WHO SAID only the beautiful walk away with the laurels at beauty contests? The less naturally beautiful you are, the greater may be your chances of winning an unusual competition launched by Oriflame, the Swedish cosmetics company, at its centres across the country. A competition for teenagers, professionals and mothers, it requires contestants to come in pairs, with one partner doing the make-up for the other. Photographed before and after the make-over job, the winning team will be decided on the basis of the difference in appearance. The greater the difference, the greater the chances of winning. Vidya Tikari, a make-up expert, is to judge the best of the lot.

"My judgement will be based on how the make-up has made a difference to one's face, and how it has changed her personality," she says.

The difference between before and after can win the ladies a free trip to Bangalore for three days, says Vineet Chawla, National Sales Manager, Oriflame. The competition not only aims at distributing prizes, but making people aware of the importance and proper use of make-up, besides publicising Oriflame products.

Organisers say approximately 3000 entries have already been mailed to the judge over the past month. "We are expecting around 5000 entries by the end of August," says Mattias Borjesson, Regional Marketing Support Manager, Oriflame, whose products range from skin care to colour cosmetics to fragrances.
