Amulya to tie knot in May

Will the Golden Girl of Kannada cinema bid adieu to acting?

After Radhika Pandit, now it is the turn of popular Kannada actor, Amulya. Referred to as the golden girl in Kannada cinema, Amulya is all set to tie the knot. With over 20 films in Kannada in her kitty, the actor got engaged to Jagadish R Chandra, an MBA graduate from London on March 6. Jagadish is the son of a politician and former corporator.

According to Amulya’s mother the wedding will be solemnised in May. Amulya made her debut in Kannada cinema as a child artiste in 2001 in Parva with Vishnuvardhan in the lead. She has acted in over 10 films as a child artiste before essaying the lead role in Cheluvina Chittara (2007) opposite to Ganesh, whose wife, Shilpa played matchmaker with the proposal for Amulya.

Her performance in Chaitrada Chandrama , Naanu Nanna Kanasu , Shravani Subrahaanya and Gajakesari brought her fame and made her a leading actress in Kannada cinema. Her performance in Shravani Subrahamanya got her Filmfare Award as best actress.

Golden star Ganesh, with whom Amulya has worked in three films, gave her the title Golden Queen during the audio launch of Shravani Subrahamanya .

It is not known whether Amuyla will continue working after the wedding. Will she complete shooting for Mugulu Nage which commenced on March 4? Remaining non-committal on the issue, sources in Amulya’s family say that the proposal came as a surprise to the family. With two months left for the wedding, they were not sure whether she would be part of the Mugulu Nage project. If the film is in her destiny she would do it, said a member of her family. Meanwhile, Masti Gudi , in which she acted with Duniya Vijay is due for release.

According to sources, makers of Mass Leader starring Shivarajkumar have approached Amulya to act in the film.
