A salute to the Sun

A light and sound show, “Surya 108”, will be presented by the Chinmaya Yuva Kendra on December 6

The youth wing of the Chinmaya Mission organises a light and sound show “Surya 108” on December 6, 7 p.m. at the Chinmaya Mission Heritage Centre, No. 2, 13th Avenue, Harrington Road, Chetpet.

Based on the theme Surya Devta, the show will depict through dance and music the important role the Sun plays in our lives.

The vibrant performances will showcase the various temples, symbols, festivals and customs associated with Surya Devta in the country and around the world.

The highlight of the show will be Puranic Vedanta philosophy associated with Surya Devta, including the power of the Gayatri mantra, the Aditya Hridayam and Surya Namaskar, which will be portrayed through dance.

The show will also present modern and Vedic scientific facts about the Sun through visuals.

The show is produced and performed by the Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, Chennai, and 52 multi-lingual and multi-national participants of the Youth Empowerment Programme conducted by the Chinmaya Mission.

The proceeds of the show will be used for the various youth-related activities conducted by the Chinmaya Mission.

“Ablaze 2007”, based on the theme of “Surya 108”, a cultural show, will be organised on December 7.

It will include literary events, a dance fest and a fashion show. All schools and colleges can participate in Ablaze.
