A rocking time

`Independence Rock' was music to the ears

Shoppers at Anna's Arcade in the city got a pleasant surprise on August 15 when Jazzie Gift turned up to entertain them with some evergreen numbers. A live band belted out Oldie Goldies and serenaded the shoppers.

Five music bands in the city tuned in to celebrate Independence Day in style. Gireesh P of `Nine Hours' came up a song from the Eagles' album `Desperado.'

The management of Pizza Corner and Attitude, which function on the premises of Anna's Arcade, came up with this idea to celebrate Independence Day with music. M.A. Azif, Sheriff. S.P. and Sujith S called it `Independence Rock.'

Undoubtedly, the star of the evening was Jazzie Gift. His presence made the live musical performance a unique and exciting experience for fans of western music.

He danced around and serenaded the customers with his favourite song `Buffalo soldiers,' which recounts the true story of four post-Civil War regiments of the U.S. Army - the 9th and 10th Cavalry and the 24th and 25th Infantry.

Jazzie felt that `Independence Rock' was a fine way to enable music buffs to listen to some of the best bands in the city. Meanwhile Aziz and Sheriff are planning to make this a regular feature.
