EATING OUT Unwind at the biergarten by enjoying a host of activities

After a hectic day at work, an evening out with friends, colleagues or family is the perfect way to beat the mid-week blues. If you are tired of being confined indoors, head out to the biergarten that the Park Hotel has set up on its Aqua Lawns. A biergarten is an outdoor area in which drinks and local food is served. The concept originated in Germany and has since caught on across the world.

Lanterns that hang from trees that gently sway in the breeze light the garden creating the perfect ambience to settle into the large comfortable chairs and enjoy the evening. The best part of the biergarten is that it immediately transports you to a world that is far away from the hustle bustle of the city.

Visitors can choose from a number of activities as they spend their evening over food and a few drinks. At one corner is a pool table where you can challenge your friends to a game or if you want to try something new you can try your hand at playing croquet in the lawn. If the heat is getting to you, you can dip your feet in the swimming pool or lie down on a deck chair and watch the IPL matches on a large screen. The excitement of the matches combined with food and the ambience has become a hit with youngsters who gather to cheer for their favourite teams.

Singing duo

Away from the large screen at another part of the garden, two singers from the Philippines sing retro and contemporary hits to entertain diners. The duo entertains requests and is sure to get your feet tapping with their energetic performances. If you often find yourself fighting with your family about what you want to do in the evenings this setting is sure to solve that problem, as there is something for every one.

The food on offer is simple and complements the ambience. Biergartens are known to serve local food and the chefs have cooked up with a number of traditional Andhra snacks to go with your brew. Bajjis (fritters) made from onions and large green chillies which are synonymous with street food in the city are perfect to munch on as you cheer for your team or play a game of pool. If deep fried snacks don’t tickle your taste buds the thin crust wood fire oven pizzas are sure do just that. For the main course you can choose from a number of biryanis on offer. The focus is not on the food but is on the ambience that is unlike any other in the city. The hotel is offering special rates on the food and drinks. For those living in apartments the sheer expanse of the laws and the sea breeze is sure to bring them back. The offer is on till April 30 from 7 p.m onwards.
