Neeta Lulla researches the Satavahana era

Designer Neeta Lulla is busy designing costumes and jewellery for director Krish Jagarlamudi’s magnum opus, Gauthami Putra Satakarni . The team, impressed by her past works, in designing costumes for films like Devdas and Jodha Akbar , felt she would be the apt choice for this historical as well. Neeta is working closely with Krish, cameraman Gnanashekar V.S. and the art department to create the costumes in the right texture and colour. She researched on art and culture during the Satavahana period. She will also collaborate with jewellers to sketch the authentic model samples. “I have conceptualised and crafted the look for each character with apt colours and fabrics with right texture and authentic detailing. We studied Amaravathi structures and developed sketches from figurines eventually mounted in form. The armours of the warriors had detailing that was achieved through careful understanding of the era,” says the designer.

Neeta will be working on the looks of Balakrishna, Shriya Saran, Hema Malini and other members of the cast.
