Saregama, Rs. 175More than any other kind of music, the flute is surely the voice of the heart. Ajay Prasanna, son and disciple of Pandit Bholanath Prasanna, blows enough magic into his renditions to justify the album title.The album’s soothing nature makes it suitable for any sensitive listener. The young flautist has chosen ragas for the most part out of the ordinary. Significant among them are Malaya Maruttam, a raga from the Carnatic genre of music, and Shankhadhwani, that is similar to Hamsadhwani except for one note. The other ragas he essays are Bhavani Bhairav, Rageswhari Kauns and Saraswati. The flautist is accompanied by Rashid Mustafa on the tabla, with Mani and Laurent on the tanpura.

NAJAM Frankfinn, Rs.125 He has the perfect voice not only for pop-rock but also for rustic semi-classical refrains. He composed ‘Only Love’, a song on world peace that he launched at the Islamabad Olympic torch relay. Pakistan’s Najam Sheraz, has now come out with Najam, an album that has his trademark guitar riffs , and some seamless fusion. Khwabon Ke Rishtey, is an energetic, modern tune, while Mahiya is a soulful eastern melody and Jaa Re Jaa combines the best of both worlds. Menu Tere Naal is better known as its much-loved version from the film Murder, Bheege Honth Tere. Hum Bolen Mohabbat Ki Zuban is a simple tune redolent of Lagaan’s music and the closing track, ‘Love U More Than Anything’, surprises with its zesty bhangra beats.
