Veritable fare from Goureesam

THUS SPAKE... Goureesam, the talented orator.

Known for his creative writing, Goureesam chose his work `Ramayana' for recital.

Vintage Visakha, a socio-cultural forum , organised a musical discourse on Ramayana by scholar, singer and poet, Ivaturi Goureesam last week at Hotel Talasila.Goureesam, holder of post graduate degree in Telugu and B.Ed from Andhra University, is known not only for his strides in creative writing, especially in the poetic idiom but also for his talent in reciting them melodiously in suitable ragas he chooses. Winner of many an award in inter-school, inter-collegiate and inter-university competitions in light music, composing and recitation of poems, he stood first in intra-state events organised by prestigious Sahitya and Sangeetha Sabhas at Garividi, Vizianagaram and Vijayawada. Prasara Bharathi (AIR) and Doordarshan featured him many a time for rendering his critiques on some important epical episodes. He is the choice for the role of Nandi Timmana in the literary events that dramatically stimulate the grandeur of the likes of the Bhuvana Vijayam Sabha of Sri Krishna Devaraya, so on and so forth including kavisammelanams.Reciting his own composition Ramayana, covering the entire Balakaanda up to Sitakalyanam in Mohana, Mohanakalyani, Kalyani and its Hindustani equivalent Yaman and tunefully intoning his sweet and expressive voice, he made it appear like a mono dramatic oratorio. Interlacing comparisons of the varied hues of ecstasy embedded in the descriptions of similar situations by almost all poets starting from Valmiki, Kalidasa and the likes up to the kavisamrat Viswanatha, he made an erudite analysis of the multitude of artistic expressions. The founder president of the Spandana, C.S. Rao introduced Goureesamwhile former AU professor, Dr. A.R. Subrahmanyam proposed a vote of thanks. A.R.S.
