NOT LACKING IN GLAMOUR: Arjun and Namitha in "Aanai."

Info had it that the shooting spot for Vasan Visual Ventures' ``Aanai" was on East Coast Road leading to Mahabalipuram. But where on that busy stretch would it be possible to shoot, one wondered cruising along ECR.

And then one caught sight of it, after Mayajal where the road turns towards the sea. Two generator vans and a couple of cars parked on the inner ring road indicated that the crew was close at hand. They were inside a mansion, complete with a swimming pool and a huge lawn. It is here that one finds Arjun and Namita in deep conversation, filmy of course. The shot over, he walks towards this writer to catch up with the latest.

It is a delight to talk to Arjun. He is always willing to part with information about his projects. Climbing into the air-conditioned caravan, he picks up the thread. "Each and every film of mine is important to me. I have done some very good work for `Aanai' which the viewers are bound to appreciate. The story is about a police officer who is expelled. He is determined to make a comeback. The tale is gripping in its narrative," the hero concludes.

Adding glamour to the show will be Kirti Chawla. ``Story demands two heroines," explains Arjun. ``Director Selva, who is also in charge of story and screenplay, knows the ropes and has conceived each scene after much thought," he elaborates.

Selva is happy that the film has come out very well. "This is a commercial film with a new editing technique tried by Satish and Harsha. Shiva's camera has captured some beautiful visuals both here and also in Hyderabad. We have shot three songs with Arjun and Namitha in London and that will certainly add gloss to the product. The songs composed by D. Iman have come out very well and the film has Vadivelu, Mahadevan, `Junior' Silk and Delhi Ganesh. The film will be ready for month-end release."

It was interesting to observe Namitha rehearsing her part, especially the dialogue. The camera rolls and her Tamil amuses the unit hands but the director is satisfied. ``We have actually finished this scene in which Namitha expresses her love to Arjun. Finishing touches had to be given and that is being done here," Selva says.

Arjun meanwhile gets busy with his mobile - giving instructions to his assistants regarding ``Madarasi" he is directing. Namitha leaves as Arjun moves to another spot on the beach for a lone shot.
