Memorial concert

Rasika fine arts has organised a memorial concert by Maharajapuram Srinivasan, at 6 p.m., on the occasion of Maharajapuram Santhanam day to be observed on June 17 at Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Auditorium, IVth Street, Postal Colony, W. Mambalam.


The music concerts of P. Sindhoori, A Sukanya and S. Subhashree, students of M. Subbulakshmi, director, Lakshminarayana School of Music, will be featured at the Narayana Guru Mandiram, on June 17, 6 p.m. They will be accompanied by M. Vijay on the violin and S. R. Ethirajan on the mridangam.


The Shanthi Arts Foundation and Endowments (SAFE) is holding an all-India Ragam Thanam Pallavi competition on October 7 and 8 at Srinivasa Sastri Hall, Luz, Mylapore. This competition is open to vocalists, violinists and mridangists between 15 and 30 years of age. Both professionals and non-professionals may apply. Music class

Kalaimagal music centre is conducting music quiz classes besides holding classes for vocal music, keyboard and devotional songs. Girls of any age and boys in the age group of 4 to 15 years can enrol their names for the classes. For details call 98843 89259.

Book release

`Sant Vani,' a book containing abhangs (bhakti songs of Maharashtra saints) in Marathi and Tamil scripts with meanings in Hindi and Tamil, published by Go Samrekshana Trust, Kadayanallur, will be released by Dayanandha Saraswathy Swamiji at a function on June 18, 6 p.m. at Koviloor Matalayam, 52, Kuppiah Chetty Street, West Mambalam. The first copies will be received by Nachiappa Gnana Desika Swamigal of Koviloor Adheenam and M. Murali of Sri Krishna Sweets. This will be followed by Varkari sampradaya abhang harikatha by Kadayanallur Tukaram Ganapathy Maharaj, Go Samrekshana Trust.
