Dance seminar

A DANCE seminar, titled `Nritta Makarandam,' organised jointly by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Kala Pradarsini, will be held from December 8 to 14 at the Bhavan's main hall. Leading dancers, representing various dance forms, will present lec-dems during this event. Prof. C. V. Chandrasekhar, Kalanidhi Narayanan, Sonal Mansingh, K. J. Sarasa, thanjavur Rajalakshmi and Sucheta Chapekar are among the senior artistes who will take part.

Well-known dancers Jayanthi Subrahmaniam, Revathi Ramachandran, Rajeswari Sainath (Hyderabad) and Kalaivani Rajmohan (New Delhi) will throw light on the aspects of Bharatanatyam, Neena Prasad (Thiruvananthapuram), Gopika Varma on nuances of Mohiniyattom, Lakshmi Mani on Kuchipudi, and Sangeeta Easwaran on ancient ideas in contemporary approach. Justice K. S. Bhaktavatsalam heads the advisory committee and Parvati Ravi Ghantasala is the convenor and co-ordinator of the seminar.

Parvati Ravi Ghantasala of Kala Pradarsini will present a thematic ballet titled, `Ambalavaananum Aranganum' glorifying Lord Vishnu and Lord Siva during the season. The first show of the ballet will be held under the auspices of Kartik Fina Arts on December 6. Music for this production has been composed by Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan.
