FRIDAY REVIEW

Chennai set for the rains!

The name rings a bell. Earlier it was announced as a project with Surya in the lead. So when Gautham Menon says he’s completed a 15 day-shoot for Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam, with Trisha and two other girls (Nikita from Telugu and Nethra of Thoovaanam fame) and four boys (Veera, Dev, Satish and Shyam all making their bow with Chennaiyil …) you are confused. Smiles Gautham: “I’m just taking the other title for the new film. The story is different. The earlier Chennaiyil … with Surya is now called Vaaranamaayiram. As Surya is busy with Vael I thought I’d use the time to begin working on Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam.

With a whole lot of youngsters around, will Chennaiyil … belong to a genre he’s not tried before? “Surely! It will be a complete entertainer, a light film with Trisha leading the cast,” assures Gautham.

Working on two films at a time could be taxing … “When you have two bound scripts with everything worked out to the last detail, execution is that much easier,” he says. And is his technical team the same? “Yeah … as always it’s Rajeevan for art and Antony for editing.”
