Elaborate renovation work is now under way at an estimated cost of Rs. 25 lakhs and new shrines are being established in its precincts.

The temple facing east will have a dwajasthambam 11 feet high, in front of the entrance. Abhirami and Amrithaghateswara Swami, Valli Devasena Samedha Annadhana Subrahmanya, Kalyana Srinivasa Perumal with his consorts — Sridevi and Bhoodevi, Sivakami and Natarajamoorthi, Kalyanasundareswarar and Kokilambal, the idols which have been sculpted in accordance with Shilpa and Shivagama guidelines.

The exquisitely carved figures and artistically painted roof over the shrines add colour to the scene of worship. Separate niches for Anjaneya, Rama, Raghavendra, Saraswathi, Durga, Lingodhbhava, Dakshinamurthy, and Bhairava complete the inner prakara.

A schedule was drawn up to conduct homams and purificatory rites in 33 yaga kundams set up as a preliminary to the consecration on October 20, which took place with the blessings of Sri Rajalinga Manickavasaga Swamigal and Sri Saravana Manickavasaga Swamigal.
