FRIDAY REVIEW

A Tamil remake

The "Meesai Madhavan" unit ...

A CIRCUS tent at the location was puzzling. Was it another "Apoorva Sagodarargal" ? ``Not quite,'' said director S. Ramu.Uvashree Creations' "Meesai Madhavan" is a Tamil remake of the Malayalam film, "Kabulivala". Two rag pickers, enacted by the producer S. V. Thangaraj and Ilavarasu, get a precious object, which they bury in a vacant place. When the owner comes to know that it is with them he gives them Rs. 100 for it. When they reach the place where it is buried, they find a circus company has put up tents.

There is also a love angle in the film with new find Ramana and `Kutti' Radhika in the lead. The story raises many questions which are answered in a number of climax scenes, according to Ramu.

Meesai is the name of Anandaraj and Madhavan is the name of Ramana, the hero. Anandaraj has an important role equal to that of the hero.

``The film has comedy, sentiment and a little bit of action also. We have five to six climaxes and they are all shot in the street, circus and forest. We have finished nearly 40 per cent of the film's circus scenes. Shooting for the forest scenes will be held in Salakudi. Two songs are picturised with 500 circus artistes,'' added the director.

The cast includes Manivannan, Rajeev, Pandu, Sabitha Anand, TV actress Gowthami and Susmita. Story is by Siddik Lal. Bharani scores the music. Ravi Shanker handles the camera. Lyrics are by Muthulingam, Snehan, Kalai Kumar, Newton and Uvabharathi. Art is taken care of by Raja and R. C. Mohanan does the editing. Power Fast has composed the fight scenes. Produced by S. V. Thangaraj, the screenplay and dialogue are also by S. Ramu.
