Renovation at Nanmangalam

The Tiruppani Kuzhu of Nanmanagalam has undertaken the renovation of the temple of Lord Gowriswarar and His consort Devi Kamakshi (also called Devi Maragathavalli) at Namparai village, which is about three km from Thimiri (located on the road between Arcot and Arani) in Vellore District.

The sthapathis estimate that this temple is about 1000 years old. With initiative from local villagers, the renovation works have commenced and nearing completion. Both deities face east, which is a rarity — the Goddess generally faces south. Nandi Bhagawan faces the Lord directly. This is one of the prarthanai stalams and devotees are reminded of their prayers fulfilled in period of 11 pradoshams. Thimiri and Namparai are near the shataranya kshetrams around the Arunachala Hills worshipped by six great rishis, Parvata Malai and Kamandala Naga Nadhi.

The consecration is to take place on December 8. The yagasala rituals, which includes annadanam, will commence a day earlier. For details contact S. Lakshminarayanan, 207, Elumalai Salai, Nanmangalam, Chennai -600117. At >siva2sivan@yahoo.com (+91-9884126417).
