EVENT SPICMACAY organises Virasat, lec-dems on dance and music for 60 days

S ociety for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY), Bangalore Chapter, is organising Virasat 2010. The annual series features an eclectic mixture of various Indian dance, music and art forms. The motivation behind this series, say the organisers, is to take Indian art and culture to the student community at large by conducting programmes and interactive lecture demonstrations various academic institutions.

The series features five art forms and is conducted over 60 days spanning across 40 schools and colleges in and around the city. Virasat 2010 is dedicated to Guru Rabindranath Tagore to mark the beginning of his 150th birth anniversary.

This year students can look forward to performances by Ajay Pohankar (Hindustani Vocal), Bundu Khan Langa and Manganiyar group(Rajasthani folk songs), a Kalamkari workshop by Guruppa Chetty, Mansi Prasad's Carnatic vocal recital, and Konark Natya Mandap Gotipua.
