A research full of risks

I t is one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet, but that does not stop animal adventurer and venom expert Donald Schultz. Whether it is harvesting poison from the fangs of a deadly black mamba in South Africa or bringing down a 400-pound wild African lion to get a blood sample, Donald is fearless in his pursuit of bio-specimens for research. In Animal Planet's ‘Wild Recon,' which premieres tonight (August 6) at 9 p.m., Donald tracks down everything from crocodiles to kangaroos to collect bio-samples that could unlock the mysteries of animal DNA.

He is the host of ‘Austin Stevens Most Dangerous,' August 8 at 9 p.m. Herpetologist, photographer and adventurer, Austin has survived bites of venomous snakes and dodged the lightening strikes of giant cannibalistic lizards. His quest is to find and photograph some of the world's most dangerous animals.

Amphibians and reptiles are the focus of Life in Cold Blood. In the episode, ‘Sophisticated Serpents,' August 12 at 8 p.m., Sir David Attenborough explains how snakes have evolved from underground burrowers to surface hunters.
