I, ME, MYSELF — AKKINENI NAGESWARA RAO on SS Music, March 17, 7.30 p.m.

Akkineni Nageswara Rao (born September 20, 1923) is a legend in his own lifetime. His first film was released in 1941, 10 years after the release of the first talkie film in Telugu. So it is not wrong to refer to ANR (as he is fondly called) as the Encylopedia of Telugu Cinema, for he has almost single-handedly shaped the destinies of the Telugu film industry.ANR was the driving force behind the shifting of the Telugu film producers to Hyderabad from Chennai, the home of all Telugu films till then. He also set up Annapurna Studios at Hyderabad, the first one in the State and was instrumental in improving the Telugu film industry. Some of his portrayals include Devdas, Kalidas, Tukaram, Gora Kumbhara, Jayadeva and Kshetrayya. He has been bestowed with almost all the awards any actor can aspire for — Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Raghupati Venkayya Award, NTR National Award from Andhra Pradesh Government, Kalidasu Award from Madhya Pradesh Government, apart from several others. Now, even at 82, ANR gives his younger co-actors nightmares — he can single-handedly dominate the screen, leaving the youngsters in a daze.To know more about the veteran actor, do not miss the special episode of "I, Me, Myself" on March 17 at 7.30 p.m.
