Geo-informatics course

THE UNIVERSITY Grants Commission (UGC) has granted Rs. 37 lakh under its innovative programme scheme to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli for a PG course in geo-informatics through the varsity's Centre for Remote Sensing (CRS).

CRS Director S M Ramaswamy said the course would cover aerial photogrammetry, satellite data processing, map-making, satellite remote sensing and digital cartography.

Other areas to be covered include agriculture, natural disasters and decision support systems. Undergraduate students of geology, agriculture or any computer-related science could pursue the course.
