THE CHAUDHARY Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar (HAU) has developed 192 high-yield varieties of various crops including vegetables and horticulture to be grown in different agro-climatic conditions.

The important varieties developed by the University include BH 393 of Barley, HHB 67 of Bajra, Taraori Basmati and Sugandha of rice; Wh 283, WH 711 and WH 912 of wheat; HQPM-1, HM-4 and HM-5 of maize; HG 365 and HG 563 of Guar; HM-1 of Multhati and CoH 56 and CoH 99 of sugarcane, an official spokesman here said.

In vegetables, the university has contributed significantly for the development of improved varieties. Most important varieties were Versha Uphar of okra, Hisar Lalit of Tomato, and Hisar Selection of Radish, among others.

Efficient technologies had also been developed for identification of varieties.
