VBIT’s gesture to flood-hit

Students of VBIT collected clothes apart from cash of Rs. 30,000 to help the flood-affected people of Mahabubnagar district through Seva Bharathi .

According to college Placement Officer G. Sridevi, a campus recruitment drive was held by Leonars Techno Services Pvt. Ltd. for 2009 and 2010 batch. Nearly 150 students attended the written test of which 70 were short-listed for the technical and HR round. Finally, 25 students were given offer letters.

Memorial meet

Noted human rights activist K.Haragopal lauded founder-member of Human Rights Forum late K.Balagopal as an intellectual who sacrificed a promising career to pursue humane goals.

Speaking at K.Balagopal Memorial meet organised by Avanthi Degree and P.G. College, he said B alagopal strived to build a society with a human face.

Noted journalist Allam Narayana said Balagopal strove to find solutions to the contradictions of society. Wherever there was a violation of human rights, he would go there.

M.Srinivasa Rao, Chairman of Avanthi group urged the students to derive inspiration from Balagopal and strive for genuine human relations.

ISTE award

The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) chapter of VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology has won the best chapter of ISTE Award in Andhra Pradesh section for the year 2009 on the basis of activities carried out during the year.

This award will be given at the Golden Jubilee year of IST in December this year at NIT, Surathkal, Karnataka.

The ISTE Chapter organises many seminars, workshops, student technical meets every year for the benefit of students, faculty of different technical institutions in the State for promotion of quality and standards in technical education, according to C.D.Naidu, Principal of the college. The ISTE is a professional society with its head office in New Delhi.

Matter of pride

Alexander Chaturvedi, B.Tech (biotechnology) student from Joginpally B.R.Engineering College, Moinabad, made his institution proud when he was invited for presentation of research paper at the 10th U.S.-Japan Symposium on Drug Delivery Systems to be jointly organised by the MIT University, USA and the Kyoto University, Japan.

The paper ‘Review on Nanoparticle-- Aptamer Bioconjugate targeting cancer cells’ will be presented at the conference to be held on December 16 and 20 at Hawaii. B.R.Educational Society will fund the expenditure.
