Promising careers in healthcare sector

I want to know about colleges offering master’s programme in Hospital Management in Hyderabad. Please give me the details of the course and job opportunities?

The demand for managers in specialised fields is increasing everyday. Corporate hospitals involve large human resource, high investments and state-of-the-art technologies.

Besides government and other non-profit healthcare establishments are revamping themselves. As the healthcare sector is rapidly expanding, experts in hospital management are required to streamline operations and assimilate best business practices. So a master’s degree in hospital management makes way for a promising career.

Medical or non-medical graduates can take up hospital management course. While medical graduates generally take care of the more technical aspects of hospital administration, non-medical graduates handle the operations aspects. Professionals of this field find employment in government or private healthcare organisations in India and abroad. The tasks would typically involve managing the staff, health services and performing under a given budget. The other avenues are in consultancy firms, IT firms, educational institutions and health insurance sector.

Department of Hospital Management, Deccan School of Management offers Master of Hospital Management (MHM). The eligibility criterion is graduation in any discipline with minimum 50 per cent marks. Medical professionals are also encouraged to apply. The admission is based on performance at entrance test, group discussion and personal interview conducted by Osmania University. The course spreads over two-and-a-half years, which includes internship for six months.

The entrance test has five sections that assess the student in the areas of English Comprehension, Business Knowledge, Health and Hospital Knowledge, Numerical ability and Reasoning. Each section has 40 multiple-choice questions. The qualifying mark is 72. There is no negative marking. GD and personal interview carry 25 marks each.
