I want information on Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarship for doctoral studies.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund (JNMF) provides the Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships for Doctoral Studies for a duration of two years for Indian nationals and nationals of other Asian countries for Ph.D. studies in India.

The eligibility conditions for the Researchers are as follows: should possess a post-graduate qualification with First Class; should not be above 35 years of age; should be a full-time Ph.D. scholar; should have registered for Ph.D. with a university in India/institution at the time of making the application.

The broad areas of research are:

Science and Technology as an integral component of economic/social activity (includes the Philosophy of Science); Comparative Studies in Religion and Culture; International Relations and Constitutional Studies; Indian History, Civilisation and Culture; Interface of Social Change and Economic Development; Environmental Ecology and Sustainable Development; Studies on the life and work of Pandit Nehru.

The JNMF provides scholarship to the tune of Rs. 9,000 per month as tuition fee and maintenance. Rs. 12,000 per annum will provided for contingency expenses including travel expenses.

The Institute of Petroleum Management, Gandhinagar (IPMG) ( >www.ipmg.ac.in), has been set up under the Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI) as a centre of excellence in industry learning to develop human resources to cater to the petroleum and allied energy sectors, improve the knowledge base of policy makers and technologists and provide a edge to leaders to compete in the global arena.

IPMG offers programmes addressing the managerial requirements of the oil & gas sector. For admissions to the 2008 batch (third batch) candidates should have appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs on November 18, 2007. The minimum academic eligibility criterion for admission to PGDM-Oil and Gas Sector is a Bachelor’s degree, with at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for the final bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification examination can also apply.

via e-mail Karnataka State Women’s University (KSWU), ( www.womenuniversity.kar.nic.in ), Bijapur, offers the Master of Science (M.Sc) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry as two-year programme.

The eligibility is as follows:

A candidate who has passed any of the appended degree programmes from a recognised university with 50 per cent marks in aggregate (40 per cent for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Cat-I and 45 per cent for OBC category candidates) shall be eligible.

i) Bachelor of Science with Chemistry as one of the optional subjects.

ii) Bachelor in Pharmacy with Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
