Good prospects for M.Sc Genetics

I want to do M.Sc in Genetics. Please tell me which colleges in Hyderabad offer the course, their admission and entrance test details.

Genetics is the study of genes. The science is applied in the manipulation of make-up of an organism and plays an important role in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medicine, forensics and biochemistry.

The subject can be taken up at engineering, graduate, postgraduate and research levels.

Osmania University, Hyderabad offers M.Sc in Genetics. Students of B.Sc with subjects like Genetics, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Biotechnology and Nutrition and Dietetics are eligible for the course.

The admission is based on performance at Post Graduate Entrance Tests conducted by the university for various PG and PG Diploma courses it offers.

This year, the entrance test for Genetics is scheduled to be held on 09 June, 2008 from 10.00 –11.30 A.M.

The last date for submitting the application form is 02 May, 2008. The test has two parts.

Part A is for 40 marks and it assesses the proficiency of candidate in Chemistry. Part B is for 60 marks and the student must take it in the subject he/ she studied in B.Sc. The subjects can be one among Physics, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics and Microbiology. The admission to these colleges is through the same entrance examination.
